During the month of January, our character education word was generosity. Fifth graders at Pike County Elementary School chose to be generous and give back to our community by preparing care packages for troops in Afghanistan. The recipients of the care packages are serving as the Army Flying Black Hawks. One of the recipients is a cousin of Ms. Rebecca Needham, Ms. Tucker’s intern from Troy University. Currently, the Army Flying Black Hawks are in an area which inhibits accessibility to toiletry items. The care packages included toiletry items and we trust these items will last until the fall of 2014 (when the troops are scheduled to return home).
